LIFE OF PI

Life of Pi

Life of PiLife of Pi is an excellent book that is reminiscent of the movie Big Fish. It is structured as a story within a story within a story. It is both amusing as well as exciting and is very entertaining for the reader. It’s about a fifteen year old boy, a son of a zookeeper named Piscene. After surviving a shipwreck several days out of Manila, he finds himself on a lifeboat with a few of the animals, only one eventually survives, a Bengal tiger. After going through many exciting ordeals they eventually reach safety and he has to explain himself to two representatives of the Japanese Ministry of Transport searching for the cause of the sinking. They don’t quite believe his story and he is forced to offer them a second explanation. In all this book is well weaved with a lot of themes, both religious and mathematical, thrown into the equation. A great read.
